Occupational therapy, or OT, provides skills for the job of living.

In occupational therapy, occupations refer to the everyday activities that people need to do, want to do and are expected to do. Occupations bring meaning and purpose to life. 

Our occupational therapy services may include:

Home Modifications

Maintain your independence as you age in the home you love.

Homefit Therapy offers professional home safety evaluations to identify barriers and issues that may impact your ability to safely remain in your home. 

 

We will work with you to find solutions to make your home safe for you as your abilities change with age. 

 

We can make individualized recommendations in all areas of the home to support your function.

Examples of home modifications:

  • Ramps

  • Hand rails

  • Grab bars

  • Shower and bathroom configuration

  • Kitchen access

  • Lighting

  • Low vision adaptations

Caregiver Training

Caregiver Training

Ensure that your caregiver is up to date on best practices so you can live confidently in their care.

Homefit Therapy offers comprehensive education and training for caregivers who provide support for clients with health or mobility challenges. We can help ensure that clients receive personalized care they need to live safely at home.

We provide education and training on:

  • Assisting with mobility and transfers (walking, shower, toilet, car, chairs)

  • Assisting with activities of daily living (dressing, bathing, toileting, eating)

  • Equipment fitting and use

  • Strategies to support individuals with cognitive or behavior challenges

J. Drew Staples, OTR/L

My name is Drew Staples, I started Homefit Therapy to serve older adults in the Colorado Springs community. I believe people are happier and healthier when they are at home. I love helping people live life on their terms by maintaining independence in their home and community. My goal is to help older adults live fulfilling and productive lives regardless of age related changes, health issues or mobility challenges. 

I am a licensed occupational therapist with over 13 years experience working with older adults. I am a Certified Aging in Place Specialist (CAPS) and a certified Parkinson's Wellness Recovery (PWR!®) therapist.
